after being pegged back
2015年5月23日Albion 1 Cardiff 2
Wiltshire 21, 65
Albion Women were narrowly beaten in their opening league game of the season, after Lily Agg’s spectacular volley was sandwiched in between Sarah Wiltshire’s brace.
Both sides had early chances; as keeper Charlotte Sole produced a fine stop to deny Kelly Isaac, before Cherelle Khassal cut inside Multicolor Leather Maggie 140mm the Cardiff defence and saw her shot saved by Rhian Nokes.
But it was the Red Dragons who took the lead in the 21st minute, thanks to Wiltshire’s shot from just outside the area that went past Sole and into the bottom corner.
The Nude Leather Maggie 140mm Seagulls struggled to create any clear cut chances in the remainder of the first half, with Agg’s off target free kick being the extent of any significant opportunities for the hosts.
But Albion managed to find an equaliser in emphatic fashion after Agg’s sensational long range volley. Khassal nodded the ball down for the 19 year old to unleash an unstoppable drive past Nokes in the 63rd minute.
Although the joy was short lived, as Cardiff were awarded a penalty only a minute after being pegged back. Cally Beaumont was penalised for a challenge inside the box and Wiltshire made no mistake in dispatching the resulting spot kick.
The Welsh side had further chances to increase their lead, when substitute Naomi Clipston forced Lucy Somes to head her shot off the line, before Charlie Carter cleared another Clipston effort away from the goalmouth.
The Seagulls had limited chances to score a second equaliser, as only Khassal’s free kick forced Nokes into action in the Leather Maggie 140mm final 15 minutes.
Cardiff almost added extra gloss to the scoreline deep into stoppage time, but Sole made another fine stop to prevent Wiltshire from completing a hat trick on a disappointing day for Albion.
